The Samaria Widows Development Project

Ethiopians suffer from lack of coverage of basic needs that we take for granted everyday. Widows in Ethiopia are particularly subject to this situation. We provide micro credits that allow carefully selected widows to establish a business that should generate a sustainable income. This should prevent the widows to be forced into an abusive marriage and/or exposure to HIV. In addtion to the widow, her children and sometimes grand parents benefit from the recovery of both the economic as well as personal devastation.

NEWS

[22. February 2008]

Since we started Samarians widows project we helped 10 widows and on February 2, 2008 five more Widows joined the program, which increased the total number of the widows to 15. Evaluation visits to the home and work place of the Widows by our representative, the project coordinator and the Kebele's representative evaluating impact and progress confirmed the multifold progress in the Widows's real life and their entire families.

The photo below was taken during the recent agreement with the latest five widows inside the Keble women’s office. The widows promised to work hard to use our help for sustainable life developments.
